Harry puffed his cheeks out and leaned back in his seat, putting his hands behind his head. “Sorry about that. What were we talking about? I kind of forgot.” he trailed off and grabbed the salt shaker, shaking salt into his hand and using his other hand to spread it around boredly. He licked some of it off his palm and grimaced before returning his attention back to Kaylee.
Snapping her head up, Kaylee blinked with wide eyes before giving Harry a small smile, shaking her head. “Nothing, never mind.” she said softly until her face lit up as she saw the waiter return with their food, she was starved! “A bacon burger, fries and sprite for the gentleman and a chicken and bacon toasted sandwich, fries and coke for the lovely lady.” Giggling at his compliment, she thanked him and snatched the salt shaker from Harry’s hand, flashing him a cheeky grin. “Don’t hog it all!” she exclaimed, shaking the salt all over her fries. “I’m so hungry! lets dig in!” She said with a clap of her hands an excited look.
Kaylee didn’t know what to do or say but stare at her curly best friend. After moments of silence, she opened her mouth to speak but was interrupted by a group of fans. Leaning back against her seat, she looked down at her lap and fiddled with the hem of her dress while Harry mingled with the girls. She could feel their stares on her, they probably thought she was just a friend, a nobody. She was starting to feel that way. As she heard them walk away, Kaylee kept her gaze on her fingers, hoping the food would just arrive.
Roxie helped her friend gather icing ingredients while contemplating the question. “I guess so… I’ve been singing since I could talk but I never really though of it as a career. I just went to the audition for this job on a dare but now I can’t think of any job I’d rather do!” She exclaimed while mixing the ingredients with a wooden spoon. She handed the bowl and spoon to Kaylee so she could stir and grabbed a pack of Red Vines that they’d bought. “I guess I just never thought I was good enough to get anywhere. What about you?” She asked Kaylee while handing her a Red Vine.
“Truthfully, I’ve always wanted to sing.” she whispered as she grabbed the bowl and spoon from Roxie, stirring the contents slowly. Kaylee loved to sing like Clairesse but unlike her sister, she had stage fright. She couldn’t stand in front of a crowd not even her own family. “But I’m just too shy so I turned to event planning and found out it was my true calling.” she mocked taking the sweet candy from roxie’s hand, chewing it as she thought to herself. “But I like doing my job..I get meet famous people, hire the best things in the world and be with my sister all the time.”
Roxie breathed a sigh of relief as she figured out that Kaylee was glad to spend the day with her as well. “Aw, thanks. I try.” Roxie said with mock humbleness as Kaylee booped her nose. “Oh, you have a bit of egg in your hair!” She pointed out before grabbing another washcloth and trying to get it out. “Ew nasty!” Exclaimed Roxie as she flung the towel containing egg bits into a trash bin. “Now that we’re cleaned up we should check on the cupcakes!” She said with a clap of her hands and an excited look. They went back into the kitchenette and opened the oven to see perfect golden brown cupcakes. “Yay! They’re done! Now we just have to wait for them to be cooled so we can frost them!” She trilled in a sing-songy voice.
Kaylee grimaced as Roxie tried to get the eggshell from her hair, she was in need of a long shower after this. Wiping the last of egg from her shirt, Kaylee following close behind Roxie as they went back to check on their cupcakes, licking her lips lightly: she had never been so hungry in her life! all she wanted to do was devour them. Grinning, she began to get out what they needed to make icing. “Well why they cool down, tell me about yourself Roxie..did you always want to sing?” Kaylee asked, looking at her friend with a curious expression.
